Childhood/Family entry of Catherine of Genoa + Chaitanya Mahaprabhu

She was born in Genoa, Italy and was raised in Genoa. Her parents were Giacomo Freschi and Francesca di Negro. She has 5 siblings, and she is the youngest out of her siblings. Her family were prominent Fieshci family and Catherine was born into an aristocratic family. She was raised by her family until her father passed. She was raised by her parents but at 14 she married Giuliano Adorno, who did not treat her best. He cheated on her with a mistress who had his baby. Her socio-economic status was well due to her being born into a wealthy family. Coming from a Fieschi family, she was raised in a Catholic household and was a Catholic herself. There wasn’t anyone important to her during her childhood, however in her early 20’s, her sister was an important person and her husband. One of the most important events that took place during her childhood was when her father passed away because that was when her childhood was taken from her. She had to get into an arranged marriage which made her childhood cut short after her dad's passing, which caused the next 10 years of her life to be miserable due to her husband.

He was born in Nabadwip, India and was raised in Nabadwip. His parents were Sachi Devi, which was his mom, and Jagannath Mishra, which was his father. He had a brother, and his name was Visvarupa. He was born into a Brahmin family. He was raised by his family. Though his father died when he was young, it was not a traumatic moment for him. It brought him closer to Krishna and his devotion to practice. His socio-economic status was well because he was in one of the high classes in Hindu social hierarchy during that period. He did go to school when he was young where he was learning rhetoric and grammar. He later shifted his focus in studying in school to practicing his devotion to Krishna. He was raised as religious person which is what spiked his learning of Vaishnavism. He was neither Protestant nor Catholic, he was a Hindu. The most important person in his childhood was his mentor, Ishvara Puri. He was the one who led his spiritual journey. The important event that took place during his childhood was his father's death that led him to focus on his education on Vaishnavism and learning spiritual teachings.

I can conclude that these two people both used their religion to get over the hard passing of their father. They also both developed strong religious beliefs at a young age that expanded as they got older. The same thing about these two people is that they were both raised in high-class families. They also both lost their dads at a very young age. One thing that is different about these two people is that when Catherine of Genoas dad died, she got in an arranged marriage while when Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s dad dead he was able to focus on his education.
