Impact on Institutions of Catherine of Genoa + Chaitanya Mahaprabu

The impacts Catherine of Genoa had on society when she was alive was her words. She emphasized the importance of charity and helping others. The impacts she had on society since she died, was her motive on getting closer to God is by helping people who are sick or are in need. The lasting result of Catherine of Genoas life is her writings such as “Treatise on Purgatory” and influencing people to help others. The things that developed because of Catherine of Genoa working at the hospital were on her personal level, her marriage improved. She worked in a hospital where she helped people who were sick, which influenced many people to come to the hospital to help. People started working at the hospital because she told people how it will bring them closer to God because they are helping who are sick. Finally, I think that it happened because she was an influential person both in her writings and during her period. Despite all the bad things that she went through, she always saw things optimistically, especially in the hospital. Her ability to be that positive during those hard times makes me believe that she was an influential person. If it wasn't for her husband's horrible treatment, she wouldn't have gone to seek something from God.

The impacts Chaitanya Mahaprabhu had on society when he was alive was showing people the chant of the Hare Krishna. He also taught people bhakti. The impacts that he had on society when he died was the importance of devotion to the Lord Krisna. The impact he had on behavior and beliefs is that he emphasized the importance of devoting to the Lord to seek a deeper connection. The impact he had on culture is he influenced dance, art, and music with his mantra and chanting of Hare Krisna and Bhakti. The lasting result of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu life was his devotion to the Lord Krishna. The things that developed as a result of what he did was his fathers death. Even though, he was raised in a religious household, it was not until his fathers passing, did he want to focus more on religion. Finally, i think that it happened because of his fathers passing. He switched his studies from education to practicing his devotion to Lord Krishna. I believe it brought him closer to his dad because he was raised in a religious household.

One thing i can conclude about these two in one sentence regarding the impact on institutions is that they both focus on devoting their gods by doing services. One same thing about these two mystics is that they both had significant impacts on religious institutions for God. Both emphasized the importance of doing services to get closer to God. The difference about these two people is they had different ways on devoting to their Gods. Catherine of Genoa focused on acts of services such as charity. While Chaitanya Mahaprabha focused on chanting Hare Krisna and Bhakti.
